I have quite a lot of News to pass on to you all, see the 7 items listed below –
1. Utmost Wealth Solutions Isle of Man Squash Championships
Congratulations to the winner of the Championships Dave Norman. The Bowl winner was Alex Cave, the Plate winner was Dave Freer and the Squash 57 winner was Steve Baker. The tournament was well supported with an entry of 52 players, it was well run by Thomas Whiteway and Les Callow, we owe them a big THANK YOU.
2. Next Tournament – Easter Graded Tournament
The Easter graded Tournament will take place on Tuesday 23rd, Thursday 25th and Friday 26th April. For this tournament players will be put in a draw with players of similar ability. So the top ranked entries will be playing in a Grade A tournament, the players ranked 9 to 16 will be playing in a Grade B tournament … and so on. We will get the poster and more details on this out towards the end of March.
3. A League – Week 10 (Monday 1st April)
There will be A league Fixtures on Monday 1st April but these have yet to be determined. After the week 9 fixture has been completed I will inform you all what the fixtures are ASAP.
Note – For Week 10 the positions in the league after all results for Week 9 have been input will determine the final round of matches. The team placed 1 will play the team placed 2, the team placed 3 will play the team placed 4. The winning team will be the best placed team from all the teams in the league – so still all to play for!
4. C League – Week 10 (Tuesday 2nd and Friday 5th April)
There will be C league Fixtures on Tuesday 2nd and Friday 5th April but these have yet to be determined. After the week 9 fixtures have been completed I will inform you all what there fixtures are ASAP.
Note – For Week 10 the positions in the league after all results for Week 9 have been input will determine the final round of matches. The team placed 1 will play the team placed 2, the team placed 3 will play the team placed 4, the team placed 5 will play the team placed 6, the team placed 7 will play the team placed 8 and the team placed 9 will have a Bye. The winning team will be the best placed team from all the teams in the league – so still all to play for!
5. Easter Break
We will have an Easter Break from Squash for the school summer holidays from Monday 8th April until Monday 22nd April.
6. After Easter – Play Offs to determine League winners.
If different teams win the the A, the B and the C leagues in the Pre Christmas and Post Christmas halves of the season there will be Playoff – FINAL matches arranged to determine the overall winner.
If needed these will take place on –
A league – Monday 29th April
B league – Thursday 2nd May
C league – Tuesday 30th April
7. After Easter – SRA Cup for B and C league teams
The SRA Cup which is the Handicap Cup competition which we play after the Easter break will be played in the three weeks from Monday 29th April until Friday 17th May. The matches will be played on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday nights. PLEASE NOTE – you will not be Cup-Tied in this competition, you can play for both your B and C league team in this competition but if a player’s B and C league team play each other they can only play for one of the teams.
