The Finals of the Elites and Masters Tournaments were played on Friday 11th January. The picture above shows the winners and runners up for the various categories. The picture shows from Left to Right – Hamish Thornton (Winner Over 40s), Thomas Whiteway (Runner Up Elites), Liam Davies, Dave Norman (Winner Elites), Steve Morley (Runner Up Over 40s), Bill Karran (Event Sponsor), Lyndon Cheetham (Runner Up Over 50s), Dave O’Neill (Winner Over 60s), Brian Karran (Event Sponsor) and Les Callow (Runner Up Over 60s). The Overs 50s Winner was Steve Baker but he is not shown in the picture.

Oscar Hill is the IOM Squash Rackets Association POM (Player of the Month) for December 2018 with a point’s increase of 22.1.%. Oscar is in the RAF and he plays his squash ‘across’, but regularly returns to the Isle of Man and makes it a priority to represent the IOM team in tournaments whenever he can. The second placed player is Racketeers player James Leith with a 15% increase in playing level. James is very competitive and had two outstanding results in December against Ian Barnes and Alan McNair. The third placed player is Rob Colquitt with 13.2%. The five most improved players in December are listed below –
1 Oscar Hill – points moved from 4175 to 5098 = 22.1%
2 James Leith – points moved from 829 to 953 = 15%
3 Rob Colquitt – points moved from 1617 to 1830 = 13.2%
4 Calum Baker – points moved from 1412 to 1561 = 10.6%.
5 Mark Stratford – points moved from 1236 to 1355 = 9.6%
